4. System Logs and Cookies

We may use cookies and similar technologies to track content usage and traffic on the Website, Platform and Services.

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer or device by websites and applications that you visit. Cookies are used to help Us improve your experience when using our services, for example by storing your preferred language setting for your next visit.

Some cookies are essential for the operation of our Website. For example, certain cookies allow Us to identify users and ensure that they can access appropriate portions of the Services. If a user opts to disable these cookies, certain features may not function properly.

We may also use cookies to analyze how visitors use our Website and to monitor Website performance. This allows Us to improve our offering and identify and fix issues that arise. For example, We might use performance cookies to keep track of which pages are most popular, which methods of linking between pages are most effective and why some pages are receiving error messages.

We may also use functionality cookies to remember your preferences, such as language, regional settings or other customizations.

We also use or allow third parties to serve cookies on our Website. For example, like many companies, We may use analytics providers to help Us monitor Website traffic. We may also enable third parties to serve cookies to help identify fraudulent or non-human traffic, conduct market research, measure performance, improve Website functionality and monitor compliance with our terms and policies.

5. Disclosures to Service Providers

We have put in place contractual and other organizational safeguards with our agents and service providers to provide a reasonable level of protection for your Personal Information. In addition to those measures, We will not disclose or transfer your Personal Information to third parties without your permission except as specified in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise permitted or required by law.

From time to time, We may employ third parties to help Us provide, maintain or improve features on the Website, App and/or Services, including through maintenance services, payment processing, authentication, customer support, database management, analytics, diagnostics, card issuing and gift card fulfilment.

Hoppier Inc may provide Personal Information collected from you to its service providers as necessary to enable those service providers to perform services on our behalf. Service providers are subject to contractual or other restrictions regarding their use and disclosure of Personal Information.

Our service providers include, for example, Stripe for payment processing and card issuing, Supabase for authentication, Intercom for customer support, Sentry for crash diagnostics, and our gift card suppliers for gift card fulfilment.

Our servers and certain sub-processors are located in the United States, although these locations may change from time to time. Accordingly, your Personal Information may be subject to the laws of jurisdictions outside Canada and may be available to governments, courts, law enforcement or regulatory agencies in those jurisdictions under lawful authority. By using our Website, App or Services, you acknowledge that your Personal Information may be processed outside your province, territory or country of residence.

6. Other Disclosures of Personal Information

We may disclose your Personal Information to third parties without your consent where permitted or required by law. For example, We may disclose information if We have reason to believe that doing so is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with our rights or property, other users, or anyone else who could be harmed by such activities.

We may disclose Personal Information when We believe in good faith that such disclosure is required by or in accordance with applicable law.

We may also disclose your Personal Information in connection with a corporate reorganization, merger or amalgamation with another entity, financing, sale of all or a substantial portion of our assets or stock, or a related due diligence exercise, provided that the information continues to be handled in accordance with applicable law and, where applicable, this Privacy Policy.

7. Mobile Application

Hoppier offers a mobile application that allows participants in a Hoppier program to view their Hoppier card, balance and transaction history, add their card to a digital wallet, redeem gift cards from their balance, and contact our support team.

In addition to the practices described elsewhere in this Privacy Policy, the following applies when you use the App:

(a) Account information

You can create a Hoppier account in the App only by opening an invitation sent to you by an organization running a Hoppier program. The App does not offer public registration, and the email address associated with your invitation cannot be changed during the invitation process.

If you already have a Hoppier account, you can sign in using your existing credentials. Authentication services are provided by our service provider Supabase.

(b) Support messenger

The App includes a support messenger operated by our service provider Intercom.

While you are signed in, We may provide Intercom with an internal user identifier, your email address, account type, an identifier associated with your organization and your language preference so that our support team can recognize and assist you.

If you contact support, the contents of your conversation, including any photos or voice recordings you choose to attach, are processed by Intercom on our behalf.

(c) Payment card information

If you add a personal payment card in the App, your payment card details are transmitted directly to our payment processor, Stripe, and are not received or stored by Hoppier in complete payment-card form. Hoppier receives a tokenized reference or other limited information necessary to facilitate the payment functionality.

(d) Diagnostics

The App may collect crash reports and related diagnostic information through our service provider Sentry so that We can identify, investigate and fix defects.

We configure Sentry and related diagnostic tools to limit the Personal Information included in diagnostic reports and use automated filtering intended to prevent sensitive information, such as payment card numbers, from being included.

(e) Device permissions

The App requests access to your device’s camera or microphone only when necessary for a feature you choose to use, such as attaching a photo or voice recording to a support conversation.

If you use biometric confirmation, such as Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint authentication, to reveal your Hoppier card details, the biometric authentication is performed by your device and operating system. Hoppier does not receive or store your biometric information.

(f) Digital wallets

If you choose to add your Hoppier card to a digital wallet, such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, information required to provision the card may be exchanged among Hoppier’s card-issuing and payment service providers, the applicable card network and the wallet provider at your request.

The wallet provider’s handling of your information is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.

(g) Gift cards

If you redeem a gift card in the App, We share with the relevant gift card provider the information necessary to issue or fulfil the gift card.

Redeeming or using a gift card may direct you to a webpage hosted by Hoppier, the gift card provider or the applicable brand. Information that you provide directly to a third-party brand or provider is governed by that third party’s terms and privacy policy.

(h) No advertising or cross-app tracking

The App does not display third-party advertising, and Hoppier does not use Personal Information collected through the App to track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising purposes.

We do not sell Personal Information collected through the App.

8. Security

The security of your Personal Information is important to Us. We use commercially reasonable efforts to store and maintain your Personal Information in a secure environment.

We take technical, contractual, administrative and physical security measures designed to protect Personal Information that you provide to Us. We have also implemented procedures designed to limit access to Personal Information to designated staff, service providers and other permitted persons or companies where reasonably necessary to carry out the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Retention

We will retain your Personal Information for as long as it remains necessary for the identified purposes, for legitimate business purposes, or as required or permitted by law. This may extend beyond the termination of our relationship with you.

We may retain certain information as necessary for purposes such as preventing fraud or future abuse, complying with legal, regulatory, financial reporting and audit requirements, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, maintaining security or account recovery.

We may also retain aggregated or de-identified information that no longer identifies an individual.

All Personal Information We retain remains subject to this Privacy Policy for as long as We retain it.

10. Amendment of this Policy

We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time.

If We make material changes to this Privacy Policy, We will post the updated Privacy Policy at www.hoppier.com/privacy-policy and update the “Last Updated” date below. Where required by applicable law, We may also provide additional notice of material changes.

Your continued use of the Website, App and/or Services following the effective date of an updated Privacy Policy constitutes your acknowledgement of the updated Privacy Policy, subject to any consent requirements imposed by applicable law.

11. Access and Accuracy

You may have the right to access the Personal Information We hold about you in order to verify the Personal Information We have collected and receive information about how We use it.

Upon receipt of a valid request, We will provide you with access to your Personal Information as required by applicable law. In certain circumstances, We may not be able to make all requested Personal Information available, such as where information also pertains to another individual or where access may otherwise be limited or prohibited by law. Where required, We will provide reasons for denying a request.

We will endeavor to deal with requests for access and correction in a timely manner.

We will make reasonable efforts to keep your Personal Information accurate and up to date and provide mechanisms to update, correct, delete or add to your Personal Information where appropriate. Corrected Personal Information may be transmitted to parties to whom We are permitted to disclose your information.

Deletion

You may request deletion of your Personal Information from within the Hoppier App under Account → Delete my account, by contacting Us at [email protected], or through the support messenger in the App or on our Platform.

Confirming an account-deletion request in the App may sign you out of your account and restrict further access to the account while the request is being processed.

Because Hoppier accounts may be provided through an organization’s program, We may need to verify or coordinate certain aspects of your request with that organization.

We will process deletion requests within the time required by applicable law.

Deletion of your account does not necessarily require deletion of every record associated with your use of Hoppier. We may retain certain information where required or permitted by law or where reasonably necessary for purposes such as financial reporting, accounting, regulatory compliance, audit, dispute resolution, security and fraud prevention.

12. Children

We do not knowingly collect or solicit Personal Information from anyone under the age of 18 or knowingly allow such persons to register for the Services.

If you believe that We have collected Personal Information about a minor in error, please contact Us using the contact information below.

13. Contact Us

You can help by keeping Us informed of changes to your Personal Information.

If you would like to access your information or have any questions, concerns, comments or suggestions regarding this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact Us by email at [email protected] or by mail at:
